Why We'll Never Push Pills: Our Take on Drug-Free Recovery

•Updated •5 min read

Written by Wendy Graham, certified MagnaWave PEMF practitioner (not a physician or licensed clinician)

We didn't start DWT Wellness because we're against medicine. We started it to give people a calm place to recover, with honest expectations.

We get asked this a lot: "Why drug-free?" It's a fair question. Medicine saves lives, and we'd never tell someone to skip their doctor. But plenty of people want more ways to look after themselves between appointments. That is the space we work in.

Who runs DWT Wellness?

Wendy Graham, our founder, is a certified MagnaWave PEMF practitioner with a Division I athletic background. She is not a physician or a licensed clinician, and we don't diagnose or give medical advice. What she built is a calm studio where you can try drug-free recovery and relaxation sessions and get straight answers about them. More on her story is on our about page.

Today we offer PEMF, red light, NormaTec compression, infrared sauna, BrainTap, and vibroacoustic sessions.

What do we claim, and what don't we?

We'd rather under-promise. Here is where the evidence stands for the main sessions:

  • PEMF: research is mostly in knee osteoarthritis. Results are mixed and modest, and the studies are small.
  • Red light: low-certainty evidence of less knee osteoarthritis pain at studied doses, and low-certainty evidence that light before exercise reduces later soreness.
  • NormaTec: FDA-cleared (over-the-counter models) to temporarily relieve minor muscle aches and pains and temporarily increase circulation. Reviews find small effects on how sore people feel.
  • Infrared sauna, BrainTap, and vibroacoustic: relaxation sessions. The research on recovery is mixed or thin.

That is why you won't hear us promise quick fixes. Many clients simply like how these sessions feel and make them part of their routine.

Are we anti-doctor?

Not at all. Plenty of our clients see doctors, chiropractors, and other providers in addition to coming here. We're one more option in the toolbox, not a replacement for medical care. If you've had surgery recently, get clearance from your surgeon first and bring it to your first session. Curious what a visit looks like? Here is what to expect on a first visit, or call us at (973) 908-1524. Your first session is free.
