Guided audio and light
BrainTap Sessions in Cedar Knolls, NJ
BrainTap is a guided relaxation session. You wear a headset that plays guided audio layered with tones while gentle light pulses play through the visor and earpieces. A session takes about 20 minutes. The research is very thin, so we offer it simply as a way to wind down, at DWT Wellness in Cedar Knolls, NJ.
What is a BrainTap session like?
You get comfortable, put on the headset, close your eyes and follow along. You'll hear a guided voice with layered tones (binaural beats and isochronic tones) and see gentle light pulses through the visor. Sessions take about 20 minutes, and the BrainTap library has hundreds of them to choose from.
There's nothing to learn, and you don't have to be good at meditating. Most people use it to wind down after a busy day or as a quiet break.

What does the research say about BrainTap?
Very little, honestly. BrainTap combines binaural beats, isochronic tones and guided visualization. The research on BrainTap itself is thin. One randomized trial in women with fibromyalgia (de Souza et al., 2026) compared it with music therapy and found that both groups improved. That doesn't show BrainTap does more than listening to music.
BrainTap is not FDA-cleared for any medical use. We don't offer it to address any health condition. It's a relaxation and stress-management tool, and that's how we describe it.

Does BrainTap have side effects?
BrainTap is generally well tolerated. It isn't for people with epilepsy or a history of seizures, or for anyone sensitive to flashing or pulsing light, because of the light pulses in the headset.
If anything feels uncomfortable during a session, take the headset off and stop. Just let us know.
Who shouldn't use BrainTap?
Skip BrainTap, or talk to your doctor first, if any of these apply:
- You have epilepsy or a history of seizures.
- You're sensitive to flashing or pulsing light.
- You have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device.
- You are pregnant.
If you've had surgery recently, get clearance from your surgeon first and bring it to your first session.
How does BrainTap compare to meditation?
Meditation asks you to steer your own attention, which can be hard when your mind is busy. BrainTap gives you something to follow: a voice, tones and light. So there's less to "get right." Neither is medical care, and plenty of people use both.
