Red Light Therapy Near Morristown, NJ: What to Expect

•Updated •6 min read

Thinking about red light therapy near Morristown? Here's what a session involves, what the research shows, and how it compares to home devices.

Looking for red light therapy near Morristown? DWT Wellness offers sessions at 14 Ridgedale Ave, Suite 262, in Cedar Knolls, a short drive away. A session takes 10 to 20 minutes, with no UV, and your first one is free. The research is low-certainty, so we'll be straight about what red light may do.

What Is Red Light Therapy?

Red and near-infrared light are delivered from an LED panel aimed at your skin. Unlike a tanning bed, there's no UV. It feels warm, not hot. We go deeper in what red light therapy is.

What Does the Research Show?

  • Knee osteoarthritis: low-certainty evidence of less pain at the laser doses studied.
  • Exercise soreness: low-certainty evidence that light used before exercise reduces later soreness.
  • Most studies used lasers or clinical LED arrays, so results may not carry over to every panel, including ours.

What Happens During a Session?

Our Cedar Knolls studio is in Hanover Township, a short drive from Morristown. A session runs 10 to 20 minutes. You sit or stand near the panel with the area you're focusing on uncovered, and we provide eye protection. There's no prep and no downtime. Some clients pair it with NormaTec compression or PEMF in the same visit.

Clients also come from nearby Morris Plains, Parsippany and Whippany. See all the areas we serve. Hours are Monday to Friday 9 to 6, and Saturday 9 to 2.

How Much Does It Cost?

Your first session is free. Ask us for current session and package pricing: (973) 908-1524.

Professional Panels vs. At-Home Devices

People often ask whether it's worth coming in versus buying a mask or handheld device. We wrote a full comparison in home devices vs. professional sessions. The short version: home devices vary a lot in power and coverage, and the research doesn't tell you much about any specific panel, home or studio.

What Should You Look for in a Provider?

  • Ask about wavelength. Panels commonly use red light around 630 to 660 nanometers and near-infrared around 810 to 850 nanometers.
  • Ask about power at the skin, not just wattage. A high-wattage panel can still deliver weak light if you're far from it.
  • Ask whether sessions are supervised and whether eye protection is provided.
  • Ask how they talk about the research. Big promises are a red flag.

Red Light for Active People

If you train, the research on soreness is about light used before exercise, not after. So a session before a hard workout lines up best with the studies. Our post on red light for muscle recovery covers the timing.

Who Shouldn't Try Red Light?

  • Anyone taking medication that makes you sensitive to light: check with your doctor first.
  • Anyone with eye sensitivity to bright light.
  • Anyone who is pregnant.
  • Anyone with a history of skin cancer: check with your doctor first.
  • If you've had surgery recently, get clearance from your surgeon first and bring it to your first session.

How Often Do People Come In?

There's no proven schedule. Many clients start with a couple of sessions a week for a few weeks, then adjust. More in how often to do red light therapy.
